Cluster 30 Pastoral Plan |
Throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, parishes located in a particular geographical area, were formed into Clusters. In Bucks County there are six such Clusters.
Assisted by their Mission Statement and Self Study program, seven parishes in the Warminster, Doylestown, Jamison, New Hope, Warrington, and Richboro areas met in November 1998 to evaluate needs, strengths, limitations and resources within the Cluster. These parishes are: Nativity of Our Lord, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Saint Cyril of Jerusalem, Saint Joseph, Saint Martin of Tours, Saint Robert Bellarmine, and Saint Vincent de Paul. Each parish was represented on the Cluster Pastoral Planning Committee by its pastor and two members of the Parish Pastoral Council. Early meetings dealt with parish surveys, internal strengths and weaknesses of Cluster parishes, shortage of clergy and religious, and the need to develop more lay leadership. Key issues surfaced for concentration and inclusion within the Cluster Plan; viz., youth ministry and their continued religious education, training of lay leadership, adult religious education, communications among cluster parishes, evangelization, stewardship, sacramental policy, and social issues. With input from Parish Pastoral Councils, the Cluster Committee then presented the Cluster Action Plan which calls for seven goals:
In approving the Plan, Cardinal Bevilacqua acknowledged the recommendation that a new parish be established in Buckingham Township, and noted that the feasibility study process has been initiated. He commended the Plan's emphasis on education programs for youth and adults as well as the formation programs for the laity. The Cardinal also observed that the Plan's emphasis on addressing the needs of contemporary family life and fostering vocations demonstrates a commendable awareness of the role of the family in the life of the Church and in the world. This goal underlines that everyone has responsibility to pray for and encourage vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and religious life for the future of the Archdiocese and of the universal Church. In October, 1999, representatives from each of the seven parishes (pastor and two parishioners) began meeting monthly to implement the Cluster Plan, and identify the common needs, resources, and system for monitoring progress within the Cluster. |
