Completed Activities

O.K., the truth is: this may not be EVERYTHING, but it gives you an idea of what we've been doing.

Activity Date Description
Decorating the Church for Christmas Sunday,
December, 19
A great turn out!  The church looked real good when we were done.  The hardest was trying to get the ribbon around the big tree, but we succeeded!  Afterwards, we were treated to pizza, and some stayed for a music rehearsal.
Caroling for the Homebound Friday,
December 24
There was a VERY positive response from those for whom we caroled to.  Thanks to all those who participated; you really made a difference.  A letter was even sent to Mr. O about us--Good Job!
Teen Mass #1 Sunday,
January, 16
There was never a better Mass that most of can think of.  O.K., it was a little long........but, there was more meaning to the Mass.  The turn out was ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!!!  Good job, EVERYONE!
Teen Mass #2 Sunday,
February, 20
Another great turnout with a lot of support for older and younger "wannabe teens" even though it was the Presidents' Day Weekend. The follow-up teen meeting's reflection and discussion on Cassie' YES at Columbine was dynamite!
Ski Trip to
Big Boulder!
Friday,
March 3
The bus was full and we had to disappoint some late requests. (Sign-up early next time!) No injuries! A great success! Thanks to all who went.
Interfaith Housing Saturday,
March 18
We had a full crew banging some nails roughly between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. It was a great experience for all we could accommodate that day. Contact Chuck Ormsby at if you are interested in another day; this could be an ongoing program.
Teen Mass #3 Sunday,
March 19
Father Gabin's first time as celebrant he really got into the Creed! Also our first Mass with the new baby grand piano! The Mass was alive! At the teen meeting the adults prompted some lively discussion with their role-playing presentation.
Lock-In Friday,
March 24
The first Lock-In was a great success! We celebrated midnight Mass, and sang karoake until 4:30 a.m. in addition to movies, games and ice skating. Thanks to all who made it possible.
Easter Egg Hunt Saturday,
April 15
The rain didn't dampen our spirits or the enthusiasm of the little guys they blitzed the Prayer Garden in record time, and cleaned us out of eggs in minutes. (We'll order more next year, honest!) Face painting, games and other activities in the Church Hall were a big hit with the tots, and the whole experience was a shot in the arm for the teens.
Teen Mass (#4) Sunday,
April 23
This was our Palm Sunday celebration. The lightning and thunder arrived a little early just as we were about to bless the palm outside, instead of during our reading of the Passion, at the crucifixion scene. We made an act of faith, and started the ceremony outside anyway. Prompted by the Gospel at the procession with palms, "The very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road," we spread tee shirts on the walkway between the gazebo and the Church for the procession; Bill Monaghan lead us in singing a rousing "Hosanna!"

The "message" comes from the Mass, so there was no meeting afterwards. Many joined us for the social in the Church Hall.

Teen Mass (#5) Sunday,
May 21
Another great celebration of God's love for his people. Father Gabin is really getting into this. Mass was followed by a very interesting youth group meeting, prepared entirely by the teens.
Bowling Night June 4 A bowling nite at Pike Lanes in Southampton on June 4 from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. was a fund-raiser to support the members of our group going to Connellsville, PA for the Appalachian Experience. The participants had a great time. Their support and the tremendous support of our lane sponsors brought in over $1,100 for this worthy project!
Teen Mass (#6)
& Picnic
June 11

"What can I say but WOW. I felt so proud of our teenagers, Parish, and Parish leadership at Mass today. Everyone connected with this group has to be so pleased with their achievements within this worthy endeavor, and in such a short time frame."

That's a parishioner's reaction to our first Teen Mass during the regular Mass schedule (at 10:30 A.M.). It was Pentecost Sunday and the full Church seemed to sense the Holy Spirit at the Mass and in our group.

It was also a beautiful day for the picnic at the Ormsby's after the Mass a barbecue with swimming and sports.

Appalachian Experience June 26-30 At the 10:30 A.M. Mass on Sunday, June 25, the parish sent forth fourteen members of our high school youth group and ten adults to minister for a week in Connellsville, PA, about 40 miles south east of Pittsburgh. There they gave their time, talents and resources in an effort to improve housing conditions for the low income and elderly in Fayette County and the surrounding area.

Volunteers in this program are asked to donate $50 per person for materials, supply their own transportation, make their own living arrangements in the area, and prepare their own meals. Our original estimate of the cost was about $7,000. The parish committed to donating $3,500 and the Youth Ministry Team has raised almost $4,000. All involved are extremely grateful for the support they received.

A few comments from participants:

"This week has been such a spiritual experience for me. I feel that I have gotten closer to God and learned more about His awesome power. I feel so enriched by the answers to my faith that I have addressed on this trip."

"This week was absolutely amazing! It was full of loving, caring, hard work, fun, crying, and laughter I am so blessed to have been part of this week. Thank you Lord for working through us all."

"This week was a time I will never forget! I made awesome friends that I know I can always turn to. I got to see God through many people I expected this week to be slow and a drag, but I would do it all over in a heart beat. It was overall, in one word, AWESOME!"

"I just need to say thank you for one of the most wonderful weeks of my life. I began to think about just forgetting about this trip all together, but something inside me just pushed me to come anyway. So I did, and it was the best decision I ever made. This week has changed my life. I feel better about myself, and more confident to tackle whatever life throws at me. You have made my faith come alive, and for that I can't thank you enough."
